County Attorney Jeff Garcia briefed the initiative on a retail-theft summit held June 9 that included the newly elected district attorney, George Brockler, Sheriff Weekly, chiefs from Lone Tree and Castle Rock and loss-prevention representatives from Target, Lowe’s, Nike and others.
Garcia told the group that retail loss-prevention staff described national corporate policies that often limit employee intervention and discourage timely reporting because of liability concerns.
