Commission OKs matching grant and rural-grant invoices for local businesses

Commissioners approved a matching grant and related invoices for local business improvements and rural-grant expenditures on June 9.
Staff presented a completed matching grant project in Scranton (concrete work around a shop and wash bay). Staff inspected the work, confirmed invoices and photographs, and recommended approving the grant at the authorized amount of $10,819. The commission approved the grant and authorized a commissioner’s signature on the invoice.
Staff also asked authority to have the chair (or an authorized commissioner) sign two additional rural-grant related invoices: one for Thompson House of Hope and another for a $10,000 credit arrangement with a local supplier (Stewards) that will allow program participants to obtain teaching and cooking supplies. Commissioners authorized signatures and directed staff to proceed with the administrative processing of the invoices.
Commissioners said the improvements would help local businesses and nonprofit programming by reducing maintenance issues and providing classroom supply access for community programs.
