Sawyer County Alliance backs Mudten fundraiser, urges changes to motorized trail plan near Seeley Forest Trails

Kathy LaRue, representing the Sawyer County Alliance, told the board the Mudten for Kids fundraiser last Saturday drew about 125 registrants and raised ongoing support for the Christmas for Kids foundation; Alliance members said they will publish coverage in a local paper.
LaRue said the Alliance is not opposed to the proposed Seeley-area trail system in principle but remains concerned about any encroachment on the Alliance’s existing nonmotorized trails. "We never were. We don't have any issues with it. We were simply against anything that encroached upon our trails," LaRue said, adding that Alliance representatives met with the trail group for more than a year and offered solutions, including applying for federal RTP funding, but felt their concerns were not taken seriously.
LaRue said forestry administrator Greg Peterson had raised additional objections to the trail at the county board meeting when the Alliance spoke, though she did not list all of those objections at the committee meeting.
The Alliance does not request formal board action at this meeting; LaRue framed her remarks as information-sharing and urged future coordination between trail planners and existing trail stewards.
