A Hayward Lakes Visitors and Convention Bureau representative told the Sawyer County Board the bureau’s website continues to outperform the prior year and month-to-month, and previewed summer promotions and forthcoming state economic-impact numbers.
The representative said the site logged 10,279 engaged sessions and that 77.4% of visitors access the site via mobile devices. "10,279 engaged sessions is phenomenal," the representative said, and noted the site’s mobile-first design includes features such as a "call now" button on member listings.
The bureau and the Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce will run a summer contest to win a giant stuffed bear and $100 in chamber bucks; the entry form will request only city and state to help the organizations learn where visitors come from. The bureau will also host a vacation guide cover contest with a $500 prize and a "win a day of fishing" giveaway with professional fisherman Chad Grigsby; winners will receive an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express before the fishing day.
The representative said they were under embargo on state economic-impact numbers but expected to share results soon. "Despite our difficult winter, Sawyer County prevailed in economic impact for tourism," the representative said.
No board action was requested; the bureau said it will circulate press releases and follow-up materials.
