Commission approves court security contract with sheriff’s office

Duchesne County commissioners on June 9 approved a contract with the sheriff’s office to provide court security for the state-paid courthouse detail.
Staff said the state payment for court security had increased this year and cited a contract total of about $109,728.78. The board noted the contract had to be signed by county officials and the county attorney. The motion to approve the contract passed by voice vote.
Separately, commissioners discussed a proposed wage increase for sheriff’s reserve officers. Staff said the proposal needs additional work — including establishing a policy and procedure — and asked to return the item to the agenda in two weeks. The board agreed to postpone action to allow more detailed numbers and a formal policy to be prepared.
The contract was signed via the county’s normal signature process; commissioners authorized signatures and directed staff to route the document through the county attorney’s office so all required signatures are obtained.
