Staff said existing segments of road were reconfigured with the parkway opening. One new section will be called Green Wave Extension (extension of Greenwave Boulevard) and another segment will be designated Highway 17-A South Extension so affected businesses can retain Highway 17-A addresses. Staff said the changes are intended to preserve existing addresses for businesses and to provide clear naming for new connections.
The director also reported county staff received training on digital safety after an incident in which messaging appearing to come from the department asked recipients to click links or make payments but was not generated by the department. Staff urged caution: if commissioners or residents receive unexpected messages asking them to click links or transfer money, they should contact the county office to verify before acting. The director noted phishing and malware actors have become more sophisticated and recommended double-checking any unusual requests even when they appear to come from a known staff member.
