The Mitchell Planning Commission approved the plat of Lot 5 in the Circle K Ranch subdivision (a 2.15-acre parcel described in the staff packet) after staff said the plat falls outside city limits but inside the city—s zoning jurisdiction.
Planning staff told commissioners the parcel sits outside the city limits and therefore also goes to the county; the County Planning Commission has approved the plat and the County Commission will hear it tomorrow. The applicant plans to sell the 2.15-acre lot to the neighbor, Steven Loffman. Staff noted a 33-foot access easement remains to the rear of the lot and that a shed that had been split by the proposed lot line has already been demolished.
A motion to approve the plat was moved and seconded and the commission voted in favor. There were no public objections raised during the hearing and the motion passed.
The commission record shows the plat approval is a recommendation within the city—s jurisdiction; because the property is outside city limits the county will take final action as applicable.
