Seaman USD 345 starts ESY at middle and high schools, expands summer preschool screenings

Deidra, who presented the district’s special services report, said Extended School Year (ESY) services for students began at the middle school and high school in their home buildings and that the district expanded summer preschool screening to accommodate children who turned 3 and needed evaluations earlier.

Staff said several two-year-olds receiving IFSP services through TARC who turned 3 this summer were evaluated sooner than usual to allow a timelier transition to comprehensive evaluations and potential special-education eligibility.
Details: Special services staff reported positive early images and feedback from ESY sessions and provided screening schedules and counts in the meeting packet. Staff described targeted supports to work on IEP goals during ESY and noted they will continue screenings this week.
