District updates construction timeline: Iroquois turnover, Van Antwerp mobilization, high school work set for summer

District construction consultants and administrators briefed the Board of Education on June 10 about progress on the multi‑phase capital project program.
Speakers said Phases 1A–C are closed out and Phase 2A (Iroquois Middle School) is largely complete: the music suite and library were turned over during school breaks and classrooms are being finished; furniture delivery and casework are scheduled over the summer. The board heard that a top coat of paving and removal of staging areas is planned for July.
Phase 2B at Van Antwerp is mobilizing: temporary fencing and staging areas are being installed, contractors are coordinating with principals on temporary space plans and some building demolition and site work will start over the summer. District staff said they will convene a county/town/school group and send mailings to adjacent neighbors with an opt-in for construction updates.
Phase 3A at Niskayuna High School includes exterior wall work on the auditorium, finishes at Blatnik and gym-area updates. The district also awarded heat-pump work and expects installations to start as soon as school is out and be completed before students return. The presenters said the district is tracking funds rolled from the 2021 into the 2024 capital projects and planning furniture and punch-list work to align with school calendars.
Board members praised staff coordination and asked for summer tours and neighbor outreach; construction leads said scheduling and community communications will be prioritized.
