Board approves consent items including personnel actions; resident raises FOIA-based governance concerns

The Liberty Elementary School District Governing Board on June 16 approved a slate of consent items including personnel actions, staff travel, summer technology hires, a salary-schedule revision and a contract amendment to cross-reference the trust policy manual.

The consent agenda was approved with exception of several pulled items; the board then approved the pulled items separately by unanimous votes (5yes, 0no). Key votes in the consent portion included:

- 5.3: Personnel action (principal hire and associated vacation payout language) — approved 5yes, 0no. A board member noted public attention on vacation payouts and cited a rough estimate of approximately $150,000 included among personnel items; staff said vacation payout policy has been longstanding and that the board could later consider limits on carry-forward.

- 5.13: Approval of out-of-state travel to the Synergy Connect 2025 conference — approved 5yes, 0no. Staff reported the attendance and travel are covered as part of the districtSynergy subscription at no extra cost to the district.
