The Wisconsin Rapids School District Board of Education voted June 9 to approve a tentative successor agreement with the Wisconsin Rapids Education Association bargaining unit for the 2025–26 school year.
Administrators told the board the tentative settlement includes a cost-of-living adjustment equal to 2.95% for the 2025–26 school year and a baseline across-scale payment described in meeting remarks as approximately $1,584 per person. The superintendent and HR director shared background on salary pressures including lane-and-step structures enacted after Act 10 and the district’s fiscal constraints. Board members discussed longer-term salary strategy and requested a retreat agenda item to review salary schedule design and post-Act 10 impacts.
The board motion to approve the tentative agreement passed on a voice vote recorded as “motion carries.” The agreement will proceed to the formal ratification steps with the bargaining unit as required by district process.
