Committee awards resurfacing contracts, approves easement to We Energies and Simmons Island electrical work

The committee awarded Project 24‑104 (60th Street and 90th Avenue resurfacing) to Lawn Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $317,400. It awarded Project 25‑104870 (Third Street resurfacing) to AW Oaks and Sun Incorporated for $442,600. The committee also approved granting an underground distribution easement to Wisconsin Electric Power Company d/b/a We Energies at 5500 Eighth Avenue; staff said the easement supports service to the Kerrick building and may have additional uses later.
An alderman asked whether the easement involved an $8,000,000 charge; staff replied that the easement is to serve the Kerrick building initially and that the reported figure was not applicable to this easement. The committee then approved the motion.
Separately, the committee approved a construction quote for Simmons Island Beach House electrical improvements. Staff described interior conduit work to add circuits for concession and north-side equipment to improve operations and allow additional amenities; no dollar figure for the Simmons Island quote was stated during the recorded discussion.
The committee also moved to levy assessments for sidewalks and driveway approaches associated with Project 25‑104070 (First Street resurfacing) as a step in the assessment process.
