Several applicants and community leaders spoke during citizen comment in support of the events.
Allen Owens, who identified himself as at 134550 Second Street and spoke in support of Juneteenth, asked the city to promote the event widely and to support African American-owned businesses: “We just want everybody to come out and be of support of that, but to share the word.” Alexandria Eagolf, representing Snap-on at 6701 Fifth Avenue, said the company is “still very excited for the event” but asked about upcoming road construction near its facility; staff offered to discuss accommodations offline.
Other approved items included a request from the Lakeshore Business Improvement District and Visit Kenosha for Shop the Block sidewalk sales; Francisco Loyola and Beatrice Santana also addressed the committee during citizen comment, inviting residents to the Hispanic festival and other events and thanking the city for its partnership.
Later in the meeting the committee approved items 8 through 11 together, including Festival Orgullo Hispano requests and a parade/festival application, a Kenosha Police Department event on Oct. 4, 2025, and a quadricycle licensing request from Lakeshore Pedal Tours LLC.
