The initial budget estimate for the sweeper was about $400,000; staff negotiated the purchase down to about $350,000 and then found an additional $20,000–$30,000 in savings, according to presenters. Two town employees with commercial driver’s licenses were trained to operate the machine, avoiding the need to hire additional personnel.
Town staff described recent deployments, including street sweeping after the Family Fun Day event. The manager invited councilmembers and residents to view what the sweeper collects at the public works facility if they wished to inspect items recovered from town streets. Staff framed the acquisition as both a stormwater compliance and quality-of-life investment.
