Board recognizes student musicians, volunteers and approves several assistant-principal appointments

The Board of Education formally commended Calvert County Public Schools students selected for 2025 Maryland All-State and the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern ensembles and adopted resolutions recognizing their achievement.
The board also honored volunteers and substitute employees: Human Resources Director Zack Sewell said the district has over 9,000 approved volunteers and recognized one volunteer of the year from each school; the district also celebrated 505 active substitute employees and presented substitutes of the year selected by schools.
Several administrative appointments were presented and affirmed by the board. Dr. Townsville asked the board to confirm Vincent Matarano as assistant principal of Calvert High School; the board approved the appointment and recorded the motion as passing 5-0. The board also affirmed Kristen (spelled "Madeja"/"Madea" in the packet) as assistant principal at Calvert High School and Lori (Laurie/Lori) Pellec (Pellec/Pelic in transcript) as assistant principal of Patuxent High School; both nominations were approved in voice votes.
