Cedar Park approves professional services agreement with WSB for 2022 bond intersection and turn-lane design

The city council on June 12 approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a professional services agreement with WSB LLC for engineering design work on intersection and turn-lane improvements funded through Cedar Park's 2022 bond program.
Chris Ricky, capital projects manager, told the council that the project identifies 11 locations along New Hope, Whitestone, Anderson Mill and Brushy Creek Road. Design work will include survey, signal modification, pavement sections, curb and gutter, sidewalks, drainage, pavement markings, cost estimates and construction-phase services.
Ricky said WSB was selected from the city's prequalified list of transportation engineering firms and cited WSB's prior project experience in Cedar Park. Staff recommended execution of an agreement with WSB LLC in an amount not to exceed $5,495,000 for design services.
Council discussion asked whether pedestrian improvements and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps would be included; staff said ADA ramps and crosswalk connections would be added where needed. Councilmembers also discussed overlap with separate signal projects and confirmed the design work focused on physical layout adjustments—curb alignments and turn lanes—while separate projects would address signal visual improvements.
A motion to approve the agreement passed unanimously. The resolution authorizes the city manager to execute the design agreement and advance the 2022 bond program projects to final design and construction bidding.
