The Margate Community Redevelopment Agency on Wednesday approved a contract award to MBR Construction Inc. for the Coral Gate Park improvement project and amended its fiscal-year budget to move $181,837 from contingency to the Coral Gate improvements account to complete the work.
The contract covers replacement of playground equipment, installation of perimeter fencing, exterior renovation of the restroom building, painting of pavilions and asphalt pathway repair. The resolution authorizing a waiver of competitive bidding and awarding the contract to MBR Construction was presented and placed on the consent agenda.
Resident Stevan Winkle asked where Coral Gate Park is located; staff responded that the park is behind the Rising Tide Car Wash and adjacent to apartment property. The board approved the contract and, later in the meeting, approved the budget amendment needed to finish the work.
The motions passed on unanimous roll-call votes. Roll-call results recorded: Board member Schwartz — yes; Board member Serio — yes; Board member Simone — yes; Vice Chair Antonio Rosano — yes; Chair Eric Casciano — yes.
The board’s decision authorizes staff to execute the construction contract and to allocate contingency funds to complete the project. CRA staff said the transfer was necessary to finish the Coral Gate improvements.
