Commissioners approve one-year professional services contract with Holcomb Law Firm for labor negotiations

The Sandoval County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a one-year professional services contract with Dina Holcomb and the Holcomb Law Firm to continue representing the county in labor negotiations.

County Manager presented the contract during the meeting and said the firm has represented the county "for labor negotiations for some time," and that the current contract was set to end at the end of the month. The manager said the new agreement will extend the professional services relationship through at least the end of the fiscal year. The board approved the contract after a brief exchange clarifying the contract term.

Commissioner Brook, citing Holcomb’s experience, said the attorney ‘‘has a really cool head’’ and praised her knowledge of the Public Employee Bargaining Act and relationships on the labor-management side. No commissioner objected, and the motion passed with all present voting yes.

The board recorded the vote and moved on to the next agenda items; no amendments to the contract were discussed during the public meeting.
