County to begin annual meet-and-confer process on employee handbook; three public sessions scheduled

Administration staff said there will be three sessions to hear proposals and comments from employees and other stakeholders: June 18, June 26 and July 7. The county's engagement website will receive proposals and comments; the public comment period on proposals runs through July 14. Staff said the Department of Administration is required under county ordinance to seek guidance from the Personnel & Finance Committee before and after the process and that the committee will receive an update after proposals are compiled.
Committee members discussed timing and the committee's ability to review proposals after the sessions and before final recommendations. Administration said sessions are typically held via Zoom and that proposals are posted ahead of the meeting when possible so participants can review them in advance.
Committee members may observe and participate in the sessions; staff urged members who want to provide feedback to do so during the posted schedule and noted the committee will have additional opportunities for input during planned follow-up meetings.
