Ross and township staff identified several procedural steps: the scout must complete the Boy Scouts’ project approvals, present the project to this committee, obtain township- or conservancy-level approval for the selected site, and secure any necessary permits (the candidate was specifically advised that EGLE or other state approvals could be required for shoreline or water-access work). Committee members expressed general support for the concept but emphasized that the site selection, permitting and approvals are prerequisites.
Next steps: the candidate will refine site selection, consult with kayakers about preferred locations, complete scout approvals and then present a formal project plan to the committee and, if required, to the township board and the conservancy for site-specific approvals.
