Las Vegas Public Safety reports 825 park-related calls in May; cameras, records requests addressed

Manning said Justice Levitt Park logged the highest number in Ward 3, with 57 citations or arrests; Ward 5’s Ethel Pearson Park had 18 citations or arrests. Overall, the department recorded 86 calls in Ward 1, 64 in Ward 2, 287 in Ward 3, 81 in Ward 4, 246 in Ward 5 and 61 in Ward 6, she said.
“Those calls for service does not include our regular perimeter checks where we’re securing facilities or out of our vehicle,” Manning said.
The lieutenant also described the city’s camera deployments. “We do have three total cameras,” she said. She said one camera was deployed in Ward 6 near Tom Boulevard in Iron Mountain in response to an illegal shooting, a second was deployed to monitor a marshal patrol vehicle parking area, and a third camera was down for maintenance.
Commissioners asked follow-up questions about patterns in incidents. Commissioner Howard (Ward 6) asked whether three stolen flight-layout batteries represented a single incident or several; Manning said she would research and follow up. Commissioner Cornwell asked how to request camera footage after recent vandalism at the Las Vegas Healing Garden; Manning said records requests must go through the department’s records unit and that she would provide the records-department email address.
Manning also listed recent community-oriented policing events tied to parks, including a Special Olympics event at Justice Levitt Park and an art-in-the-park and cleanup at Rainbow Family Park, and invited commissioners to be notified when officers attend ward-specific events so they may participate.
