County counselor says tax-foreclosure paperwork cleared; tax sale likely this month

County counselor Greg Thompson reported to the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners that the county’s tax-foreclosure paperwork has been approved by the district court judge and that the county expects to move forward with a tax sale after required publications.
Thompson said the final hearing did not produce any appearances from property owners and the judge signed the prepared orders. He told the commission the tax sale could occur as soon as this month, pending the remaining publication requirements and any last-minute tax payments.
Commissioners asked how members of the public can review parcels to be sold. Thompson said listings will appear in the newspaper and on the county website under the treasurer’s office once publication begins; he added the final number of parcels may drop if owners pay delinquent taxes before the sale.
The county did not set a specific tax-sale date at the meeting; Thompson said the target is to complete required publications and schedule the sale for a June meeting if timing allows.
