EMS officials say ground emergency medical-transport reimbursements uncertain and likely delayed into 2027

Ada County Emergency Medical Services staff updated the board June 3 on the status of potential ground emergency medical transport (GMT) reimbursements.
An EMS official said the timeline from the reimbursement program indicated the first payments for the 2023 calendar year may arrive "next year sometime," payments for 2024 the following year, and that subsequent years' payments could extend into parts of 2027 or possibly 2028. "The way I read this is a definite possibility of a firm maybe," the official said, describing the schedule as uncertain.
EMS staff said the department had not included GMT revenue in the current budget and were relieved not to have done so, noting that if and when the payments arrive the county will address them appropriately at that time. There was no formal action; the update was informational and commissioners took no vote on policy changes.
The EMS meeting also included routine approvals of claims and minutes; no immediate operational changes were announced related to GMT.
