Lafayette planning commissioner announces resignation after moving out of city

Commissioner Heising announced during the commissioners' reports that he must resign because he is moving out of Lafayette.
"I am reporting that tonight is my last meeting. We are moving out of Lafayette and therefore, I'm not a resident of the city anymore. So ... I am needing to resign my position here on the commission," Commissioner Heising said. He described his time on the commission as a positive learning experience and thanked staff, fellow commissioners and council for the opportunity to serve.
Chair Lebange and other commissioners and staff praised Heising's preparedness, professionalism and mentorship. Chair Lebange noted Heising began service on Oct. 3, 2016, and thanked him for his leadership and for helping newer members learn commission processes. Planning Director staff echoed appreciation for Heising's years of service and wished him well.
No formal replacement was announced at the meeting; the resignation was presented as an announcement during the commissioners' reports.
