District reports seasonal resignations and retirements; board sees typical end-of-year turnover pattern

Maury County School District staff presented personnel reports that showed a high number of end-of-year resignations and retirements. Board members noted about 51 resignations and roughly 15 retirees appeared on the report, which staff said is typical for this time of year.
Board member Kelli Stevenson asked about the number of vacancies; HR staff said the district currently shows about 60 open positions posted for the upcoming year but that many departures at this time of year reflect family moves or educators shopping for new positions during the May'July hiring season.
HR staff cautioned that hiring activity often produces more movement in the summer: "This is the time of year where people switch jobs... educators do in the months of May June and July," staff said. The district said it will continue to post and recruit to fill the positions.
No formal actions were taken during the work session; personnel items will be handled through the normal consent and hiring processes ahead of the next school year.
