Historic Preservation Commission approves minutes and $15,000 for National Trust conference attendance

At its May 2025 meeting the City of Las Vegas Historic Preservation Commission unanimously approved the minutes of its April 30, 2025 meeting and approved up to $15,000 to fund travel and registration for commission members and city staff to attend the National Trust Preservation Leadership Forum in Milwaukee, scheduled Sept. 16–18, 2025.

Commissioner Moody moved to approve the April 30, 2025 minutes; the motion passed unanimously. Later the commission considered agenda item 25-0237-HPC-1, a funding request of up to $15,000 to support attendance at the Preservation Leadership Forum. The request covered travel and registration for two commissioners who indicated plans to attend in person and two city staff members; the final expense depends on registration choices (in-person or virtual) and confirmed attendees.

"Estimated cost to attend the conference is about $3,100 per person," Chair Stodahl said; Dr. Seabrent told the commission registration details and final costs had not yet been published. Commissioner Serfas moved to approve up to $15,000; the motion carried unanimously with the chair voting with the majority.

The commission asked members who planned to attend to notify staff whether they intended to attend in person or virtually so staff could finalize registrations. The commission packet noted a virtual attendance option for the forum and that a final session schedule would be released in the coming weeks.
