Community fundraising clears $38,000 for Saint Helena fireworks; contract talks moving forward

Deputy Director Dave Jans said the GoFundMe page shows 21 individual donors and that business owners and community groups contributed. Jans said the fireworks vendor contacted earlier remains available and excited to return to Saint Helena, but staff will coordinate closely with the fire department, the school district and public works to manage logistics, safety and weather conditions.
Mayor and councilors thanked community members and staff. Staff said they had not publicly recognized some donors out of respect for individuals’ privacy but plan to acknowledge supporters at an appropriate time.
