At the May 20 meeting the Boerne City Council selected Ty Wilson as mayor pro tem and approved the mayor's annual appointments to boards and commissions.
The mayor nominated Ty Wilson for mayor pro tem; after technical issues with the electronic voting system, the council voted by voice and the mayor announced the ayes had it. The council also approved the mayor's recommended slate of appointments, read by City Secretary Lori Carroll, which included reappointments and new appointments across municipal court, the public housing authority, planning and zoning, board of adjustments, design review, the library board, the Historic Landmark Commission, Visit Boerne, and the ethics review commission.
Notable appointments read into the record included Ed Phillips as municipal court judge; Heather Ontiveras reappointed and named chair of the public housing authority with Alan Taha as vice chair; Cody Keller moved from the Design Review Committee to fill a Planning & Zoning vacancy; Tommy Matthews was reappointed chair of Visit Boerne; and Denver McCarty Jr. moved from alternate to member of the ethics review commission. Lori Carroll noted the city received more applications than available slots.
Councilmember Macaluso moved to approve the mayor's appointments and Councilman Scott seconded; the council voted 4-0 to approve the slate.
