Prince George's County committee adopts five-year transit vision as official guide

The Committee of the Whole of the Prince George's County Council on May 27 approved Resolution CR 57-2025 to adopt the county's five-year transit vision plan as an official guiding document for community and public transportation services.

Council Member Battle told members the committee previously heard a presentation from the Department of Public Works and Transportation but had lost quorum during that meeting and had not been able to take an official vote. "The committee of the whole convened on May, to discuss the transit vision plan. At that time, the Department of Public Works in Transportation presented, provided a presentation on the 5 year plan, and, their staff was here to, answer questions. Unfortunately, mister chair, during that meeting, we lost our quorum, and we're not able to, officially vote," Battle said.

Victor Weisberg of the Department of Public Works and Transportation was noted as available to answer questions during the reconvened session. Council Member Olson moved the committee recommendation and Council Member Fisher seconded. The clerk recorded a roll call and the motion carried, 9-0.

The resolution was introduced on the committee agenda as CR 57 20 25 and is described in the meeting record as adopting the Prince George's County five-year transit vision plan "as official document guide the county's implementation and operation of community, county, public transportation services for the next 5 years." The committee's favorable recommendation returns the resolution to the full council for further action under the council's legislative process.
