The Town Council voted on May 21 to approve expenditures recommended by the Diversity, Inclusion Task Force (DITF) to support a slate of community events and outreach for 2025.
The DITF presented a funding package covering several events, including Pride programming, Juneteenth, and other community outreach and education initiatives. During the meeting the Juneteenth budget figure was updated to $13,497 to reflect a revised estimate; the council approved the updated amounts.
The roll call vote recorded four votes in favor and one abstention (Vice Mayor Wellner recorded an abstention on the roll call). Council members who voted in favor noted the importance of town support for inclusive events and education.
Council members discussed whether the DITF should make line‑by‑line decisions about distribution or whether the council should set a single per‑event cap; some members asked that the DITF be asked to provide a single program budget next cycle to avoid council micromanagement of event allocations. The council did not change the amounts approved at the meeting.
Staff will implement the DITF expenditures through the town’s normal contracting and payment processes.
