Policy review: committee recommends revoking outdated meal-account policy; board to consider revocation next meeting

Policy committee members told the board they unanimously recommended revoking Policy DO, Timberlane’s older food-service meal-account policy last amended in 2014, because it conflicts with a more recent policy, EFAA (meal charging), which the board adopted in September 2024 and which aligns with current state law and model language.

Committee members explained the process required by board policy to revoke a policy: a majority vote of the policy committee at least two weeks before a board vote, public notice of intent to revoke and a majority vote of the full board at a properly noticed meeting. The committee said it met those thresholds and recommended the board place the revocation on the June 5 agenda with the required public posting and opportunity for comment.

Board members asked procedural questions about timing and public notice; administrators confirmed the recommended schedule and said they would place the revocation on the next agenda and solicit public review beforehand. No board vote to revoke was taken at the meeting; the recommendation will return as a posted agenda item for a full-board vote.
