At Rhewiller Park, crews discovered a sinkhole that proved larger than initially thought. Staff reported the surface has been leveled and that framing and rebar installation were planned for an upcoming Thursday, with a concrete pour targeted for the following Tuesday if weather permits. Pleasant Grove’s Black Box Theater required larger-than-expected mold remediation; staff said some sheetrock and flooring must be replaced and that work is expected to finish by the end of the month.
The Central Library first-floor bathroom redesign contract with an architect was executed the day before the meeting, staff said, and the Westside Plaza project funded by a Downtown Dallas Inc. (DDI) grant is scheduled to go to City Council on June 25 for acceptance of funds. Staff told commissioners that grants must be accepted by city council under city procedures.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about timelines and grant deadlines; staff said procurement and vendor scheduling influence how quickly projects can begin.
