Beaver County officials call May election "very smooth," say tallying of rated races will continue

Beaver County leaders praised poll workers and county election staff following Tuesday’s election and told the Board of Commissioners at a May 21 work session that additional tallying of certain races will continue in the days ahead.
The county solicitor said the administration saw “a very smooth election” and commended the election director and hundreds of county employees and volunteers whose work made the day run well. The solicitor noted that staff will continue reviewing and tallying rated votes in several races to determine ballot placement for the fall.
Commissioners were told the county had 29 polling places and that mail ballots accounted for a high share of votes returned; one commissioner said Beaver County ranked in the top three to five counties statewide for the percentage of requested mail ballots that were returned. The session also reported overall turnout of about 18 percent for the election and said that most mailed ballots had been counted by about 7 p.m. on election night.
No irregularities were reported during the work session. Staff and elected officials described the result as the product of a multi‑person effort involving the election director’s office, county employees who assisted with ballot tabulation and poll workers at precincts across the county.
Commissioners did not take formal action related to elections at the work session; staff indicated they will continue necessary tallies and will report any formal findings under the regular agenda or in subsequent updates.
