The Board of Parks and Recreation voted on and approved four separate staff recommendations during its May 20 meeting.

Poland Park improvements (Memo 17): The Resource Development Division recommended awarding RFB‑seventeenDPR‑3817 — Poland Park improvements — to Myers Construction Management Inc. in a lump sum amount of $707,900 as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. IEI contract amendment (Memo 18): The board approved an amendment to the professional services agreement with Infrastructure Engineering, Inc. (IEI), reducing the not‑to‑exceed compensation amount by $28,500. Meredith Smith Memorial fireworks (Memo 19): The Indy Park Special Event Committee recommended allowing Charlotte Smith and Bud Smith, representing the Meredith Smith Memorial Committee, to set up fireworks for the 54th annual fireworks show at Ravenswood Overlook Park. Staff described event logistics and partner coordination with IMPD, IFD and park rangers; the board moved, seconded and approved the request.

Alcohol sales at concert series (Memo 20): After a presentation from 45 (the event organizer) and park managers, and a public comment period during which at least one resident urged the board not to approve hard liquor sales, the board voted to approve a staff recommendation allowing sale of alcohol, including liquor, during the 2025 concert series at Broad Ripple and Holiday Parks. 45’s representatives said alcohol service would be confined inside a fenced perimeter, that guests are carded upon entry and at point of sale, and that bartenders are licensed. The board adopted public‑comment rules before taking public comments and then voted to approve memo 20.
