Separately, staff presented a Real Property Deed Lease Agreement with Milestone Tower Limited Partnership to install and operate a communications tower on the Smithsburg campus. The board unanimously approved the lease. Immediately after that vote, the board unanimously approved a motion dedicating revenue received from the construction and operation of the new tower toward capital improvements at Smithsburg High School Stadium, specifically turf replacement.
Staff described that Milestone intends to lease space on the tower to other wireless providers and that the district would receive revenue from those agreements. The board did not discuss a specific revenue estimate or schedule for turf replacement during the presentation.
