The Washington County Board of Education unanimously approved a project memorandum of understanding on May 20 to fund the new Downsville Pike Elementary School.
The tri-party agreement joins the Board of Education of Washington County, the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County and the Maryland Stadium Authority and encompasses funding stemming from the Built to Learn Act, staff told the board. The memorandum formalizes the parties’ roles in delivering partial funding for the new elementary facility.
A board member moved to approve “the project memorandum of understanding for the new Downesville Pike Elementary School facility by and among the Board of Education of Washington County, the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland, and the Maryland State Authority” and the motion passed unanimously.
Board materials and staff noted the MOU was discussed previously in closed session before being presented in open session for approval. No construction schedule or total project budget was included in the discussion at the meeting; staff indicated future updates and bidding activity would follow as the project advances.
