Goldsboro City Council on May 19 formally accepted a $250,000 grant from Trillium Health Resources to fund an inclusive playground at North End Park.
City staff explained the mayor’s committee for persons with disabilities had advocated for an inclusive playground, pursued the Trillium grant and coordinated vendor selection and public input. Parks and Recreation staff said the selected site is North End Park, and that the grant requires no general-fund match and will support equipment and construction to provide accessible play elements. The grant is a direct award from Trillium; staff said the city will bring a budget amendment at the following meeting to record the funds and enable project planning and procurement.
Council adopted a resolution accepting the Trillium grant by voice vote; staff and council members thanked Trillium and advocacy-group members for the work on the project.
