Griggs County adds key-control lockbox to courthouse door-access project, to use ARPA funds

At the Griggs County Commission meeting on May 19, commissioners voted to add a controlled key lockbox to the courthouse door-access control project and to continue installation of cameras and badge-printing equipment.
County IT staff and department heads described the remaining work: interior cameras are being mounted this week, outdoor cameras pending weather, and door-access hardware is scheduled for June 24. Staff said the lockbox—an electronic, badge-activated unit that logs who opens it—would allow sheriff’s department and other staff to access keys while maintaining an audit trail. Staff provided a quote of $3,324 for the new lockbox, installation and interfacing hardware.
County staff said funds are available in ARPA allotments previously allocated to the security project and that adding the lockbox would remain within the project’s existing allocation. Commissioners approved the add-on by voice vote.
Commissioners also discussed rollout of the system’s badge printer and badge design; staff said they will work with department heads on badge layout and unique requirements for sheriff’s department badges.
