Council grants Mississippi Pub temporary premise expansion for 2025; one councilor abstains

The Inver Grove Heights City Council approved a temporary expansion-of-premises authorization for Mississippi Pub that allows the business to expand the boundaries of its on-sale liquor license for up to 10 calendar days in 2025, subject to police review and approval of dates.
City Clerk Becky Kiernan presented the application. She said the license holder, Mississippi Pub at 445560 Sixth Street East, applied under the revised city code that permits temporary expansions if authorized by council. "If granted this authorization by the council, the license holder will be able to temporarily expand the boundaries of their license premise up to 10 calendar days in 2025, subject to the police department's review and approval of the specific dates for each 10 expansions," Kiernan said.
The council opened and closed the public hearing with no public comment. One councilor announced an abstention from the vote because of a relationship with Mississippi Pub. The council then voted to approve the authorization; the motion carried with one abstention recorded.
Staff recommended approval following the public hearing; police department review of specific event dates will be required for each temporary expansion.
