Inver Grove Heights Parks commission swears in three and elects officers

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission swore in two new commissioners and reappointed a returning member, then elected a chair and vice chair at its June 11 meeting.
Three commissioners were sworn in and commission officers were chosen at the June 11 meeting of the Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.
Adam Ottos, the city’s Park and Recreation director, administered the oath to Lucas Johnson, Luisa (spelled Louisa in the oath) Torres and William “Bill” Scar. After the oath, the commission conducted elections for chair and vice chair.
Steve Cook was nominated and elected chair by voice vote. The commission then nominated and unanimously elected Nikki Parker as vice chair. Commissioners present during the roll call and votes included Nikki Parker, Kurt Stangler, Abby Heidenreich, Lucas Johnson, Tracy Mulcahy, Luisa Torres, Bill Scar and Steve Cook.
Members introduced themselves for the benefit of the newly sworn commissioners. New commissioner Lucas Johnson said he has lived in Inver Grove Heights for 35 years and works in sports; Luisa Torres said she is an environmental engineer who has lived in the Heights three years. Bill Scar was reappointed to another term.
The sworn-in commissioners will join the commission’s regular activities and the July park tour scheduled for mid-July; staff said logistical details will be circulated to members.
Commissioners and staff thanked outgoing members who will be recognized at the August meeting.
