Commissioners add study process to consider removing parcels from Bridal Enclave (Big Sky)

County staff said the item would initiate the usual multistep review, including community meetings, engagement with the county's land-planning organization, consultations with county staff and, if needed, outside consultants. The County Manager said, "there's absolutely nothing set in stone right now. This is authorizing the typical process that we go through to get that done, which will involve community meetings, Land Planning Organization, the Board of County commissioners, probably consultants, county staff and so forth."
Commissioner Grieve asked that the matter be considered now because she will miss the next two commission meetings and wants staff to begin the outreach and evaluation. "I'd asked if this could come now so at least staff can start that process rolling, so that we can look at this rural enclave," Grieve said in remarks recorded in the meeting.
A motion to add the legislative-intent item as agenda item "+1" was made and seconded; the board voted in favor and the chair announced the motion carried. The addition directs staff to initiate the review process but does not itself change zoning or land-use designations; the County Manager and staff repeatedly stated that no decisions are final and that further steps, including public meetings and technical evaluation, will follow.
