Craig to host community sessions on sports complex aquatics feasibility; study shows indoor pool possible with major infrastructure needs

The presentation said the study also identified more than $2,000,000 in infrastructure needs to bring the existing facility up to current standards; the wave pool marks its 40th anniversary this year and the lap pool is about 50 years old.
City staff noted potential benefits of a larger complex that could include two gymnasiums and indoor aquatics, which could reduce travel for local tournaments and programming. Commissioners were invited to attend engagement sessions, and staff said additional stakeholder meetings and a city council review would follow.
The city representative said an overlay and more information are posted on the city website; commissioners acknowledged the update and encouraged participation in the public sessions.
