Beverly Simmons, who told commissioners she and her husband have lived in Maury County 34 years and described her history of volunteer and leadership roles, said she had "no agenda other than to serve our county and to serve the library board." The library board chair, Tracy (surname not stated on the record), confirmed Simmons' application had been forwarded by the library board.
Commissioners conducted nominations and a roll-call vote. Clayton Smith received six affirmative votes; Simmons received 14 votes and was appointed. The chair announced, "Miss Beverly Simmons, by simple majority has been chosen to be on the library board." Michael Fulbright thanked the commission for consideration.
