The Greater Lafourche Port Commission voted to accept its 2024 audited financial report and approved May expenditures and preliminary financial statements.
Mr. Murray of LaPorte presented the audit results and said the firm issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the commission’s financial statements and did not identify any compliance findings or material weaknesses. Murray also reported that the commission exceeded $750,000 in federal awards in 2024, triggering a Uniform Grant Guidance single‑audit, and that LaPorte found no audit findings in the programs they tested, including the National Infrastructure Investments program and the Airport Improvement Program.
In finance business, commissioners approved payment of May 2025 invoices and specifically recognized expenditures over $25,000, which included: Rigid Construction LLC — $1,186,246.80 (Ida Brickwater repairs); Dynamic Group — $531,202.08 (slip D bulkhead); USI Insurance Services — $340,762.50 (commercial property insurance renewal); GIS Engineering — $159,970.25 (Fouchon island, slip deep bulkhead, marsh creation and consulting); Freetown Builders — $104,763.91 (airport hangar reconstruction); Angelette Design LLC — $97,552.86 (breakwaters, bulkhead and shoreline work); PCL/PCola Associates — $58,610.00 (pavilion bulkhead, connector road and consulting); Ascent Aviation Group — $34,053.82 (fuel truck rental and fuel). The finance chair noted total expenditures for the month were $3,619,317.58.
The commission also voted to accept the May 2025 preliminary unaudited financial statements. The board approved out‑of‑state travel requests for staff to attend the RCTA Warrior Resilience Conference and meetings in Washington, D.C., in July.
All motions described were approved by voice vote at the meeting; one commissioner recorded an abstention on the expenditures vote and the chair instructed that abstention be noted in the record.
