Valley County awards brush-management contract to Silver Creek, approves King's Pine amendment adding acres

The bids per acre varied widely; Silver Creek submitted the lowest bid for East McCall Unit 4 at $1,500 per acre (approximately $29,850 for 19.9 acres), while other bids ranged up to about $3,190 per acre.
A motion to award the project to Silver Creek Brush Management for $1,500 per acre (total reported by staff as $29,850) carried on a voice vote. The transcript records the motion, a second, and two recorded “Aye” responses on the floor; staff noted the county is not strictly bound to accept the low bid when prior experience or past performance is a factor, and the county has adopted an inspection process for contractors.
Separately, staff presented an amendment to the King's Pine Good Neighbor Agreement (GNA) to add a small number of additional parcels whose owners agreed to fuels-reduction work. Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the King's Pine GNA amendment; the board recorded an "Aye" voice vote and approved the amendment, which will allow the contractor awarded work at King's Pine to perform the added acreage.
County staff said they will inspect contractor performance on three to four occasions per unit and have an inspection form and sign-off process. Staff also reminded commissioners that the county is not always required to take the lowest bid if performance concerns exist.
Actions taken at the meeting included awarding the East McCall Unit 4 contract to Silver Creek Brush Management and approving the King's Pine GNA amendment to add additional acres to the project.
