The Kanosh Town Council voted June 11 to approve an annexation request for two adjoining properties owned by the Shumway family on the north side of town.
Planning and zoning presented the request for the Shumway parcels and confirmed the area falls within the town’s expansion plan and service territory. Council members discussed the requirement that the parcels form a contiguous annexation; county staff (Justin) had advised that the highway running between parts of the land could affect contiguity, but that the planning map shows both parcels within the town expansion area and the state has final approval on contiguity matters.
The council voted to move the annexation forward as a single annexation covering parcels 80841 and 8081. A council member moved the annexation and the motion passed unanimously with the recorded “aye” vote.
Ending: Council members agreed the annexation would proceed through the formal state review and follow the town’s public-notice steps before finalization.
