Board approves deletion of long-unused Chromebooks; technology staff to reconcile assignments

Board members asked for clarification on the lost-or-stolen designation and whether the devices are physically present at schools; district fixed-asset staff said the Chromebooks had been assigned to schools but many have not logged into the district network for years. “Understanding from our fixed asset person, the Chromebooks have not been logged into since 2021 or 2020. They're unable to tell them where the needed, get them to clean up or direct their signal to,” a board member noted during the discussion.

The board approved the deletions to keep the asset register current but asked technology staff to identify original assignments and conduct a physical inventory ahead of the next school year.

The motion to approve the fixed-assets deletions was made by Mister Jenkins and seconded by Mister Brumfield and passed 5-0.
