Reno County commissioners voted to update the county resolution on fireworks sales to align with dates the City of Hutchinson recently authorized. County staff had drafted a resolution that would modify the existing 2023 resolution dates; commissioners agreed to adopt the new dates so sales windows match across jurisdictions.
County staff said no permits had been filed yet for fireworks sales in unincorporated county areas and noted the county’s current sales window permitted sales June 30 through July 4. The city has authorized sales from June 20 through July 7; commissioners decided to match city dates to avoid confusion and to give charitable organizations and sellers the same opportunity to set up sales stands.
Commissioners approved the resolution amendment by roll call vote. County staff said the correct resolution number for reference is 2025‑16 (not 2025‑14, as initially noted in discussion).
