Trustees approve routine purchases, appointments and a World Refugee Day resolution

The Village of Ballston Spa Board of Trustees approved a series of routine purchases, personnel actions and a symbolic resolution at its June 9 meeting, including the purchase of fire department radios, authorization of contract documents and the designation of June 20 as World Refugee Day.

Trustees voted to reject bids related to a well-generator RFP on engineering advice, approved an insurance renewal and authorized the mayor to execute related documents, and authorized appraisals for two village-owned properties — 30 Bath Street and 66 Front Street — not to exceed $2,500 in the aggregate.

The board read and accepted a resolution designating June 20, 2025, as World Refugee Day in the Village of Ballston Spa. The resolution text read in full during the meeting cites United Nations and U.S. government resettlement statistics and was adopted as amended to clarify language about refugee screening. Trustee discussion noted the amendment clarified that refugees enter the United States “through the country's legal asylum process.”
