Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the May 12, 2025 regular meeting, personnel recommendations, acceptance of donations totaling $770,115.50 and routine finance items (treasurer's report and electronic fund transfers for April 2025). The chair characterized the consent agenda as routine; the board approved it by voice vote.
Student activity and MSHSL: The board voted to continue membership in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) by motion; no board member spoke against the resolution and it passed by voice vote.
2026‑27 academic calendar (contingent approval): The board considered two calendar versions for school year 2026‑27. Staff recommended a contingent approach: approve version 1 if the legislature does not change start‑date law, or adopt version 4 if a pending legislative change permitting school to start before Labor Day is enacted. Board members described outreach with administrators and teacher groups and reported an 88% teacher preference for the earlier start in the district's internal poll; administrators reportedly supported an earlier start unanimously. The board approved the contingency motion to adopt both versions with implementation contingent on state law.
Closed session: At the end of the meeting the board voted to move into a closed session pursuant to Minnesota Statute section 13D.3 to discuss labor negotiation strategy. The motion was approved by voice vote.
These actions were taken alongside the superintendent's report and several informational updates on athletics, community education enrollment and committee activity. Several board members thanked volunteers, community education staff and committee members for their work during the school year.
